Erlenmeyer Flasks are ideal for actively growing cultures of algae, providing filtered air exchange and a round base for swirling.
Rectangular Flasks are ideal for containing multiple, small, replicate samples for experimentation.
Square Bottles are ideal for storage and shipment of algae or media, or for containing multiple, large, replicate samples for experimentation.

Note that cultures of algae are packaged in square bottles for shipping purposes, but it is recommended to transfer cultures to an erlenmeyer flask to enhance growth.
